Walpack Township Committee Meeting Minutes:

May 31,  2016

Mayor Maglio called the meeting of Walpack Township Committee to order at 7 p.m. stating this meeting was held in compliance with the Open Public Meetings Act having been duly advertised.

Present: Committeeman Heigis, Committeewoman Wycalek, and Mayor Maglio

Also in attendance: Michelle LaStarza

Guest: Jackie Espinoza, Area Manager for JCP&L

Mayor Maglio opened the floor and welcomed area manager for JCP&L, Jackie Espinoza. Jackie introduced herself and discussed power outages that occurred in 2015 and 2016 and the improvements they hope to make.

Committeewoman Wycalek made a motion to approve the minutes of the meeting from April 26th, 2016 seconded by Committeeman Heigis. Minutes were unanimously accepted as presented.

Michelle LaStarza submitted the treasurer’s report and bills list for approval. Committeewoman made a motion to approve the report seconded by Committeeman Heigis. The following bills were approved for payment:

The FY2016 Grant for Sandyston/Montague/Walpack Municipal Alliance was discussed, specifically the provision for additional funds for substance abuse prevention in the amount of $2,000. Mayor Maglio asked Michelle LaStarza to look further into the provision.

Mayor Maglio and the committee discussed the Kittatinny Regional High School Tax Levy. Mayor Maglio stated that he will be pursuing a change and needed to discuss with the municipal attorney.

Mayor Maglio informed the committee that the state of NJ accepted the emergency action plan and it will expire in 2020.

The committee reviewed the correspondence.

There being no one from the public in attendance and no further business to discuss, Mayor Maglio made a motion to adjourn seconded by Committeewoman Wycalek. This meeting was adjourned at 7:24 p.m.
