Walpack Township Committee Special Meeting Minutes:
August 9, 2016
Present: Committeeman Heigis, Committeewoman Wycalek, and Mayor Maglio
Mayor Maglio addressed the committee about the Kittatinny High School Tax Levy
situation. He informed them that the tax bills would be revised starting in the
third quarter 2016.
Committeewoman Wycalek and Committeeman Heigis took a moment to thank Mayor
Maglio for all his hard work in resolving the situation.
Mayor Maglio read the following resolution:
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TAX COLLECTOR TO ADJUST TAX BILLS
WHEREAS, the 2016 Tax Rate could not be adjusted to reflect that Regional High
School Taxes would be raised in the 2017 budget per NJSA 40:48-17.3, because the
deadline for any such adjustments has passed.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Mayor and Committee of the Township of
Walpack that the Tax Collector shall adjust the 2016 final and 2017 preliminary
tax bills to reflect the elimination of the Regional High School Tax portion in
the amount of $44,574.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Mayor and Committee of the Township of Walpack
that the Regional High School Tax Payable of $44,574 be raised in and paid from
the 2017 Municipal Budget.

NOTICE is hereby given that the above resolution was approved at a meeting of
the Mayor and Committee of the Township of Walpack, in the County of Sussex, New
Jersey, held on Tuesday, August 9th, 2016.

Committeewoman Wycalek made a motion to approve the resolution seconded by
Committeeman Heigis and unanimously carried.
Mayor Maglio read the following resolution with modifications:
GRACE PERIOD ON LATE THIRD QUARTER TAX PAYMENTS DUE TO THE
DELAY IN SENDING OUT THE TAX BILLS
WHEREAS, the 2016/2017 Tax Bills were mailed out late and the third quarter tax
payment was due on August 1, 2016,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Mayor and Committee of the Township of
Walpack that the Tax Collector shall extend the grace period for 25 days after
the mailing of the tax bills. After the extended grace period interest will
accrue back to August 1, 2016.

the Mayor and Committee of the Township of Walpack, in the County of Sussex, New
Jersey, held on the 26th day of July, 2016.

Committeewoman Wycalek made a motion to approve the resolution seconded by
Committeeman Heigis and unanimously carried.
There being no one from the public in attendance and no further business to
discuss, Mayor Maglio made a motion to adjourn seconded by Committeewoman
Wycalek. This meeting was adjourned at 3:42 p.m.
